Battersea Park Boating Lake

We had a lovely day out at Battersea Park last week, venturing out onto the boating lake. There’s a selection of rowing and pedal boats on offer – we opted for the pedal ones as they’re a lot easier to control (and I noticed the inexperienced rowers’ boats rocked side to side and I didn’t want to chance me or my little one falling out because I didn’t know how still he’d sit).
After donning our life jackets (yes, I opted for one too because aint no way I’m drowning in Battersea Park Boating Lake!) we took to the lake for what ended up being a relatively cheap and rather relaxing day. There’s not really much I can say about the experience other than we’d love to go again because the thoroughly enjoyed it so here are a few tips if you plan on visiting too…

  • You can park your buggy up within the boating enclosure but I wouldn’t exactly call it secure so take all of your valuable belongings onto the boat with you.
  • Make sure to bring plenty of snacks and drinks.
  • There’s only so many times you can go around the lake before getting knackered/bored so bring entertainment with you (e.g. sketchbook, music, books, download/stream movies).
  • Go for the hour instead of 30mins – its not that much more expensive and time seemed to fly by.
  • You may be tempted to go for the rowing boats because the queue is much shorter but the pedal boats are easier to control and rock less.
  • There are plenty of other things to do in the area including local cafes and restaurants, mini golf, Go Ape, Battersea Park zoo and bike hire.
